You might notice that your computer has become slower over time. This might be due to a shortage of memory or the presence of malware or computer viruses. The majority of the time, however, these problems are caused by poor user optimization. Software maintenance is essential for a PC, just just as much as any other machine. These are a few tweaks and suggestions that might help you get the most out of your computer. These ideas will help you increase the longevity of your computer and save you a lot of money on new hardware.
1) Limit the Start-up applications
As soon as Windows starts up, plenty of programmes will launch in the background. This will increase the load on startup and will remain a burden in the background until you manually close them. Removing them from startup is an useful approach to solve the issue.
these settings can be found on task manager
- ctrl + shift + esc ( opens up task manager )
- click on more details and then on startup
- disable all the application that you wish to start as windows boot up ( Don’t disable antivirus and other important applications )
2) Get rid of unnecessary Applications
We often install and test a wide range of applications and software. But what we consistently neglect to do is uninstall or delete them from our PC, leading to substantial degradation of our PC’s performance
Uninstalling software is so simple that you may do it right from the control panel or by navigating to settings and then apps and features.
3) Change the power mode of your PC
Typically, a PC provides a set of power modes that help in providing performance dependent on the settings we employ. Using high performance mode will undoubtedly improve your performance; even desktop users could use this option to get most out of their computers.
To do so, open the Control Panel app and go to Hardware and Sound > Power Options under Hardware and Sound. “Balanced (recommended)” and “Power saver” are the two most common options. Click the down arrow next to “Show additional plans” to reveal the “High performance” setting. To change your power setting, go to Control Panel and select the one you want, then quit. “High performance” gives you the most power but consumes the most energy; “Balanced” strikes a balance between power consumption and improved performance; and “Power saving” tries everything it can to extend your battery life.
4) Removing Temporary files
Temporary files might sometimes interfere with previously cached data, leading our computer to become sluggish. It’s critical to remove them on a regular basis so that they don’t fill up our storage and slow down our computers.

Simply go to Run (Windows key + R) and type %localappdata%, click enter, and remove all files in that folder; similarly, go to Run and type %temp%, hit enter, and delete all files in that folder as well.
Although there are many other solutions to optimize your PC, this method is more effective. This list will be updated soon with some of the other methods too
