    India is a huge market for OTT platforms, so offering different plans to satisfy a diverse user base with different income levels is the only solution for faster absorption and growth. The following OTT platforms are categorized on the basis of their Global, National and Regional contents, User interface, cost efficiency, etc.

    10) JIO CINEMA

    Jio Cinema is a streaming services from Jio Platforms. It is free for Jio sim users. The Kite Runner, The Voices, Baywatch, Macbeth, Jobs, The Sum of All Fears, The Forgiven, The Founder, Into The Wild. Are the well known contest available in this platform. Jio Cinema has partnered with content brands such as Alt Balaji, Viacom 18, Eros Now to feature yet more useful and engaging content to attract most viewers.

    9) MX PLAYER

    The MX Player started in India as a video player. It is a free service but MX Player Pro is a paid version that offers exclusive content without any Ads and is priced at Rs.370. It has licensed contents from various Indian and International studios including Paramount Pictures, Shemaroo, Hungama, Sony Entertainment, Film Rise, Goldmine, Sonar Entertainment, Screen Media Films, etc

    It contains shows like High, Ashram, Damaged, Bullets, Dangerous, Cheesecake, Flames, Hello Mini, etc.

    8) EROS NOW

    Eros Now is owned by Eros Digital, and headquartered in Mumbai. Subscription costs Rs.49 for one month, Rs.79 for three months and Rs.399 for 12 months. The platform has blockbuster films like Investigation Side Hero, Operation Cobra, Flip, Metro Pack, Smoke, Rockstar, Goliyon Ki Raasaleela Ram –Leela, Tanu Weds Manu Returns, Bajirao Mastani, Happy Bhag Jayegi, Cheeni Kum, Manmarziyaan, Savdhaan, Shubh Mangal, Singham Returns, etc.

    Currently it offers breathtaking features like HD videos, multi-language subtitles, and easy- to download movies. 

    7) ZEE5

    Owned by Essel Group via its subsidiary Zee Entertainment Enterprises. Zee5 has recently partnered with TVF for streaming movies and shows. It offers International and Indian movies and TV shows, music, TV, Live, and health and lifestyle content across 12 languages including English, Hindi, Malayalam, Bengali, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Marathi, Bhojpuri, Odiya, Punjabi, and Gujarati. Thais makes it worth the money. ZEE5 Premium option that allows you to watch many exclusive movies and series for Rs.299 for three months.

    Apart from Indian languages, it offers an impressive collection of TV series from across the globe including Korean, Turkish and Spanish shows in HD, exclusively available in Hindi. Commando 3, Bamfaad, Dreaming Girl, Tashkent Flies, Saand Ki Aankh, Poison, Code M, Rangbaaz, Mafia, Mentalhood, etc.

    6) ALT BALAJI

    Owned by Balaji Telefilms Ltd. Alt Balaji provides 32 original shows in Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, and Gujarati. Subscription starts at Rs.100 for three months. That is a great price if you are looking for a cheap service platform. Rs.180 for six months, or Rs.300 for 12 months. Some of the best movies to atch are Mentalhood, Bichoo, Moksh to Maya, Bose: Dead or Alive, Dev DD, XXX, Home, Romil and Jugal, Cyber Squad, etc.

    5) VOOT

    Voot is an Indian subscription video on demand service owned by Viacom 18; available as an app for iOS, KaiOS (Jio Phone) and Android users and a website for Desktop consumption. Voot is available only in India. Channels offered includes Colors Hindi, MTV, Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, Colors Kannada, Colors Marathi, Colors Bangla, Colors Super, Colors Gujarathi, Nickelodeon and MTV India.

    Languages- English, Hindi, Tamil, Gujarati, Bengali, Marathi, and Kannada. Voot hosts its original series known as ‘Voot Originals’ only to the paid subscribers of Voot Select. Most popular shows or movies includes A Million Things, Asur, Elementary, Madam Secretary, The Affair, The Office, Why Women Kill, etc. Originality of the content is one of the major attractions of Voot and covers categories like drama, comedies, spoofs, etc.

    4) SONY LIV

    Sony LIV, owned by Sony Pictures Networks India and developed by Multi-Screen Media. It is available in English, Hindi, and several Regional languages of India. It offers viewers shows from the Sony Stable- SONY, MAX, SAB, SONY TEN, SONY MAX 2, SONY PIX, and SONY SIX.

    Scam 1992, Gullak, Avrodh, Sandwiched, Forever, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Hillary, Drak Waters, Indebted, Alex Rider, 1917, Lincoln Rhyme, along with many other popular movies and shows like Girls Hostel, Maharani, Welcome Home, Demonte Colony, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Muramba, Riviera, etc.

    They also live stream football tournaments like the La Liga, UEFA Champions League, Serie A, UEFA Europa League, Ligue 1, etc.

    3) DISNEY HOTSTAR PLUS​​

    It is the only service with content partnerships with the top three global studios- Disney, Fox, and HBO. It’s a partnership between Disney and Hotstar, Star India’s streaming service. As a result, it includes all of the Disney + Hotstar content as well a the original Hotstar content. It is a subsidiary of the Walt Disney Company India. Dil Bechara Hai, Lootcase, Sadak 2, while English movies like Kingsman, Secretariat, Bad Education, Marvel, Star Wars, The Clone Wars, Sharp Objects, Game of Thrones, How I Met Your Mother, Malgudi Days, Silicon Valley, The Mandalorian, 24, The American Crime Story, etc.

    2) NETFLIX​

    Netflix Inc is an American OTT platform, headquartered in California. Netflix rules the heart of Indian audience with its abundant varieties of shows and movies to spur the appetite of every viewer.

    It is one of the largest streaming platforms in the world. Some of the best movies, series and shows to watch on Netflix are; Breaking Bad, Money Heist, The Big Bang Theory, FRIENDS, Delhi Crime, Stranger Things, Orange is the New Black, Narcos, Punisher, Daredevil, Sacred Games, Masaba Masaba, Mismatched, The Irishman, Arrival, On Body and Soul, Haider, The Two Popes, Shoplifters, shows like Hoichoi, Koode, City Shor, Planet Marathi, Thackeray etc.

    Netflix faces tough competition with other OTT platforms in India, which charge lower subscription rates than Netflix.

    1) AMAZON PRIME VIDEO

    Amazon Prime video is an American OTT platform that provides the users with films and TV series produced by Amazon Studios. To access Amazon Prime video, users must be a Prime member of Amazon E-commerce platform. Growing fastest among the 16 countries that the platform is present in. Amazon not only provides English centric content but also focuses on Hindi content as well as Regional content.

    The streaming services has a lot of great shows and movies like The Boys, Mirzapur, Tandav, One Mic Stand, The Family Man and have earned a lots of acclaim from audiences. Paatal Lok, Undone, Hanna, Home Coming, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Shameless, Goliath, Made in Heaven, One Night in Miami, Uncle Frank, Sylvie’s Love etc. Thappad, Gangs of Wasseypur, Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya are some of the best Hollywood and Bollywood movies on the platform.
