Why E-bike is the Next big thing

Sustainability is the key for a bright future of the world. Here comes the role of E-bikes which adds power to your pedal power enabling you to do more with a bicycle and have more fun! Every uphill becomes as easy as a flat road ride. The assistance provided by the electric motor enables E-bike riders to go further than they might otherwise be able to. The amount of effort required to cover 10 miles on a conventional bike, for example, can carry riders closer to 20 miles when continued with the power generated by an E-bike motor.

Can Ninety One Meraki resolve the EV gap in India?

Meraki is the first Electric cycle produced by Ninety One. We will look at the specific features of Meraki 27.5T. Usually people look for cycles with a good performance. Whereas, perfect design and look comes as an icing on the cake. In Meraki we get this experience. On top of being an electric bike, Meraki has all the visual features of a mountain bike. The frame, fit and comfort of the cycle makes it appealing to all category of users. The frame comes in one standard size. Ninety One is a new bicycle brand which was previously named Frog. Ninety One’s parent company Alpha vector are driven by their goal of reconnecting you with the outdoors through delightful products that appeal to the lifestyle and fitness aspiration of India’s youth. This complete revamp of the brand name and design also came with new models being introduced.

The E- brakes are also assisted with automatic brake cut off for the safety of the users. The water proof motor is of 250 Watt, IP65. Motors and controllers undergoes rigorous testing in extreme temperature up to 50C for 5,000 hours. The particular safety feature of the bike is its key lock switch, where the bike cannot be turned on without key. Low friction Polypropylene gears ensure higher efficiency and noise free riding experience. Next comes the Rubber button, IP66, unique display. The intuitively designed rubber keypad helps you switch modes while driving without looking down. The four types of driving modes available are Pedal, Pedal Assist, Cruise and Throttle. Dust and rainproof- IP65 electronics rating ensures a carefree ride in difficult weather conditions. The cables are also U-V rated i.e. IP67 poke ensures that you cannot wire it wrong and ensures a long life.

Things you need to know while buying an E- bike

Any E-bike with speed limit of 25KMP and power limit of 250 Watt, require no registration. Meraki definitely qualifies these criteria and hence neither needs registration nor license to ride. In Pedal Assist mode the motor gives boost to our pedalling effort, which does take effort. So riding a cycle i.e. an E-bike is definitely not cheating. It just helps you to do lot more with the bike. You can ride an E-bike with the battery as easily as a normal cycle. Riding an E-bike without the battery will do no harm or damage to the motor or the battery. So, yes E-bikes do work without battery. E-bike with throttle can be ridden without pedalling. Though it is not recommended to do so continuously as it will reduce the range considerably and of course Pedal Assist is more fun than using throttle. The assistance from the motor cuts off at the speed of 25Kmph, but you can go faster by combining your pedal power in the Pedal Assist mode. Any E-bike with speed limit of 25Kmp and power limit of 250 Watt, require no registration.
